Replaced the Start-Stop battery at a Perodua Service centre some months back. I couldn't find time to write and post this, better late than never I guess.
This Start-Stop battery for the Perodua Bezza Advance is on the high side for a budget car. It cost about RM450 which is double the price of normal car batteries. Any third party M42 equivalent battery is definitely cheaper than this. For example, Varta, Hankook, GS Yuasa sold by others. Here are some found on Shopee https://shopee.com.my/search?keyword=m42%20battery . It's probably a good idea to buy and install it at the shop.
My Perodua Bezza Advance car battery lasted about 2 years and 5 months. Considering that the car is in the city with heavy traffic all the time, it's not too bad. Eco-idle mode was always in use for the first 6 months.
Some signs that the battery is giving up are:
1. Noticeable dimming of the headlights(all the time) when the aircond compressor comes on.
2. Headunit doesn't turn on properly or slow to turn on.
3. Really long cranking time before the car starts. This is probably the surest sign that the battery is giving up soon.
Call Perodua Assist to tow the car or use their help to jump start the car and drive to the nearest shop/Perodua service centre.
Photo of the old battery; my new battery looks identical.
Just an FYI for anyone reading in future, as of January 2023 the price is ~RM500 for a new Perodua Bezza start stop battery from official Perodua Service Center.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the blog author that changing battery outside Perodua Service Center is cheaper.
